History of the Department's Establishment:
1 October 1940 - opening of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Slovak University (PF SU)
26 August 1944 - establishment of the Mathematical Institute, later the Department of Mathematics of PF SU (renamed to UK in 1954)
1952 - Institute of Geometry at the Department of Mathematics PF with head assoc. prof. Harant (alongside him also the Institute of Mathematical Analysis - head prof. J. Hronec and the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics - head dr. A. Huťa)
1 October 1960 - establishment of the Department of Geometry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University (PFUK) by separation from the Department of Mathematics PFUK
1 September 1980 - Department of Geometry of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics UK - MFF UK (MFF UK was established by separation from PF UK)
