Continuous Assessment: independent work
Objective: To teach students the basics of working with the graphic programs Gimp, Inkscape and Blender.
Course Syllabus:
- Familiarisation with the GIMP program workspace.
- Creating simple graphics using basic tools.
- Photo editing in Gimp.
- Familiarisation with the Inkscape workspace - a program for creating vector graphics.
- Using basic tools to create a simple vector image.
- Blender - a program for 3D object modelling. Familiarisation with its environment.
- Creating simple objects and editing them in Blender.
- Applying materials and textures to objects, rendering the scene.
- Simple animation in Blender.
Assessment Method:
To be awarded a grade from A to E, students must work on projects (each taking approximately half to one hour) and regularly submit/present them in class within two weeks of assignment. One submission by email is allowed if illness or another event prevents attendance at the class. Further email submissions will not be accepted. Failure to submit a task results in 1 penalty point; late submission (more than 2 weeks after assignment) or submission of insufficient quality results in 1/2 penalty point. Tasks are assigned after each lecture, with the last ones two weeks before the end of the semester. Tasks submitted after the semester ends will not be considered. The final grade is calculated by deducting all penalty points from an A grade. In the worst case, if penalty points exceed 4, the final grade will be Fx.
